Mrs. Edna Mae Brown Jones, 92, passed away on Tuesday, November 7, 2006 in Azalealand Nursing Home in Savannah. She was born June 4, 1914 in Savannah, GA. She was the daughter of William Newton Brown and Leila Mae Corbett Brown.
Edna was a devoted wife, a caring supportive mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She is survived by four of her five children, Clarence Edward Jones and wife Shirley of Orlando, FL, Charles Norbert Jones and wife Janice of Savannah, Anita Louise Johnson and husband Earl of Vaccaville, CA, and Margaret Elaine Kennedy and husband Danny of West Chester, PA. Edna has ten grandchildren, Gregory Jones of Deltona, FL, Jeffrey Jones of Orlando, FL, Timothy Jones of Narcoose, FL, Amy Hatch of Savannah, Lisa Borden of Atlanta, Susan Gallo of Aliso Viejo, CA, Eric Johnson of San Francisco, CA, Keith Johnson of Fremont, CA, David Kennedy of Frederick, MD, and Dana Rainey of Wilmington, DE; eleven great grandchildren; her sister-in-law and lifelong friend, Willie Joe Leeder; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of seventy years, Ralph Levi Jones; her youngest daughter, Emily Carol Jones; her sister Wilhelmina Brown; her two brothers, Francis Wallace and James Ernest Brown and her twin brother, Edward Brown.
Edna was a lifelong resident of Savannah and active in the Hermitage Elementary School PTA and lunch program where her children attended. She also was an active member of the Savannah Kennel Club for many years. Her hobbies were gardening and raising and showing Boston Terriers.
Visitation will be Sunday, November 12, 2006 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Fox and Weeks Funeral Directors Hodgson Chapel.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 Monday, November 13, 2006 at Fox and Weeks Funeral Directors Hodgson Chapel.
Burial will follow in Bonaventure Cemetery.
A reception to honor both Ralph and Edna will be held at 7 Cuthbert Lane in the Landings immediately following the burial.
